Another piano recital at Schott's, London
on: February 14, 2011, 09:23:10 PM
16 April 2011 (not sure of the start time right now)...

Piano recital by Jørgen Hald Nielsen:

Mozart: Sonata in D major for 2 pianos KV 448 (with member Jonathan Powell, the instigator of and moving spirit behind this spring series at Schott's, as with those in previous years)

Brahms: 4 Ballades, Op. 10

Bentzon: Partita, Op. 38

Grainger: Jutish Medley

Hinton: A Birthday Paraphrase for Ronald Stevenson, Op. 20 (on movt. 2 of Schumann's Piano Sonata No. 2, Op.22, itself a transcription of one of his songs)

Sorabji: Transcendental Study No. 79 (The Inlaid Line, from 100 Transcendental Studies [1940-44])

Hinton: Cabaraphrase, Op. 14

The last two works will be WPs, the latter being a sub-sub-Lisztian romp through themes from the Kander/Ebb musical Cabaret (no, don't even ask...).

Best,

Alistair

What will - and why and how?

Life is a shaven face, old chum;
Life is a cabaret...

Anyway - I look forward to seeing you there!

I will be there I am sure.

Perhaps I could pick up Ian Pace on the way, if he is in town.

Perhaps you could - but would you actually want to? And would Mr Pace himself want to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to an event that included not only some Sorabji but also an operatic paraphrase by one of his bêtes noirs on themes from a musical that overtly embraces Jewish connections and connotations in a context where one song praises The Fatherland? On your own shaven or unshaven head be it!
