clp340 vs hp305
on: February 19, 2011, 10:26:01 AM
Didn't care for the kawai sound compared to the other brands.

tried the arius v240. Was nice, but lesser poly and cheap action made me leave it.

And so of course next I tried the clp line. 330 was nice but the 340 felt better. Got priced at $2800 for the 340, $2200 for the 330

I was gonna try the cvp line specifically the 501 but they didn't have one. Still the guy quoted $3200 for that.

Tried out some rolands. I ended up really liking the hp305, was quoted $3400 for that.

So basically im stumped. The roland is a sweet piano, and so is the yama clp340. Though I have heard that some people complain of very noisy keys from the Roland hp series.

Any thoughts about the pro's and cons of both? Damages either incure that need repair? Maybe any thoughts about another piano that sounds just as awesome as either. (Im looking for as close as it gets to that key slamming sound of an acoustic without having to lug one around or pay out each year to keep it on the up and up.)

Opinions are appreciated.

Before you shell out the $3400 fora CPL try a CP50. Half the price of the CPL and just as good in my humble opinion....

The CLP series pianos act as pianos (with some extra voices available).
The CVP series pianos add many accompaniment features. They are basically the same as the CLP-series in their piano functionality, but the accompaniment features raise the price MUCH higher.

The CVP-x01 models are not nearly as good as the CLP-series (inferior keyboards). You need to bump up to a CVP-x03 or -x05 to get a good keyboard. But you'll pay A LOT for it.

Yes, the Roland HP-series is known for noisy keyboard action. Judge them for yourself.

Roland, Kawai, and Yamaha have slab keyboard models that might suit you. They're much less expensive, but some of them have keyboard actions that are nearly as good as the expensive consoles. You need to decide whether you want the console appearance (and stability) or not.
