Bach: C-minor prelude and fugue WTK I
on: February 24, 2011, 07:41:44 AM
This old, and sometimes overplayed, p&f is a part of my repertoire, along with the Chopin etude and some other pieces, for a competition in June.

I hope you like it, and that you have many good things to say! :)

Edit: New recording in the bottom.

Hi: Love this prelude and fugue. I used to use the prelude as an exercise instead of stupid Hanon. Only thing about this I have to say is I would rather listen to you playing it then Glenn Gould.

It was clear as a bell in both the prelude and fugue.  For me everything I could want out of this piece.  Not to rushed, but relaxed , your intellect in clear control.

Very impressed

Cheers, Becky

Hi! Thanks again for your comment, it makes me all warm inside!
There are a few things I'll change... Like those stupid wrong notes!

More comments? :)

Ok, so this is my new recording of this piece!

Somehow, I managed to make worse recording setups than last time,  and I don't know what I did >.<

Hi !!
personally i may like a Bach piece or not at all ... no such thing so far as
somewhat liking a Bach piece.  This is one of the popular pieces by Bach
that I like and you play it very well.  I am sorry can't comment on the technical
aspects as i am not a pianist ... only a perpetual part of the audience.

Wow.  what an improvement from the first time.   It's ready now for a competition.
The tempi are exactly what I feel.  Just one thing in the prelude.  It's very articulate and very well executed.  But I'm not aware of the harmonic progression.  I just don't feel it.  Do you?  I would go through it a few times with just the chords and let yourself go.  Do crazy things if you want. Crescendi, diminuendi, accelerandi, etc.  But make that harmonic progression felt.  Because that's all this piece is.  Harmony.  Play it grandly like an organ prelude if you want. Roll the chords, add big bass octaves, etc.  Then, when you really get it inside yourself, go back to the original version and see what happens.

You're right, as always... No, I don't feel it either, but I really tried to! I don't practise it right now, but I'll start again in some weeks, then I'll try what you said :)
