Improvisation 2
on: February 25, 2011, 11:48:34 AM
Hi Folks

heres my second recorded improvisation.  I think as with the first I was playing it fairly safe, tho the opening motif is probably a bit closer to me usual style than the material of the first.  Maybe some signs of development?

Hope you like it, please let me know what you think

I enjoyed the pulsing chordal texture and melodies here. It reminds me a bit of a later part of Jarrett's Bremen concert which I've always enjoyed. I like how the chordal part came back in a different form after a contrasting melodic section in the middle. My personal taste found me wanting larger shifts in mood or light vs. darkness, but that's not going to be everyone's goal nor should it necessarily be. Good job  :)

Hi Rich,

I just came from listening to Ted's Romantic Rhapsody, which had a much different sound-tapestry than what you have posted here.  It was at first shocking to listen to your new improv here because of that, but then it's like a nice memory and I actually quite love it!  I, also, enjoy the pulsing chordal texture and melodies :).

I'm not sure what you think of as "safe" ... you do sound in control, but that doesn't necessarily mean playing it safe, does it?  I hope you keep posting, I'm so enjoying so the variety we have here between the posters :).

Thanks m1469 - what a good question!  Going to have to think about that one - Ive a feeling theres no right answer to it, but the dynamic might be very interesting to explore.  Glad you liked it anyway :-)
