How to pronounce latin?
on: February 27, 2011, 12:30:24 AM
(It's "laa-tihn" Bob. That simple.
)
Any easy guides around on the internet or good books? I'd like to know how to pronounce it without sounding stupid.
Et, for example. Is it pronounced like "A" as in the letter A or is it really "eht?"

It's a pretty comprehensive page, actually. You'll need to know IPA, which is the only true pronunciation guide. There are links within the page, of course, that can help. Keep in mind, there is a lot of variation, given that it is a dead language and there are differing pronunciations that were used back then and even today when it is spoken.

There are also pronunciations that are specific to singing Latin. You may wish to search for this if you are thinking about Latin vocal music.
