What piano should I get?
on: March 01, 2011, 02:48:15 AM
Hi,

Can someone recommend a keyboard or a piano to get? I don't have a big budget, but I'm looking for a beginner keyboard to start playing on. A friend on another website recommended this: https://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-Oxygen-49-49-Key-Controller/dp/B0031SCV46/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1298870714&sr=8-1. Is this good? I'm not sure if it comes with a pedal thing or not, but if it doesn't, should I buy one with it. I'm only a beginner, so I'm not sure if I need a pedal just yet.

Thanks.

Hi Andrew,
Welcome to the forum. May I recommend this one instead https://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-PSRE413-61Key-Portable-Keyboard?sku=706168 or at least look around this site for other keyboards. You don't want a midi controller because you also need to get an amp and a speaker system too. I have the PSR and it has it's own speakers built in if you want to use them. It also has a input for a pedal if and when you're ready.
The only reason why I recommend the PSR is because I have one so I know it's a good one. The features you should look for are touch sensitive, weighted or semi-weighted keys, having it's own built-in speakers, and at least 61 or 72 keys. 88 would be ideal....
Good luck.... Let me know what you get....

Musically, Jimbo
