Veni Creator recreator 2
on: March 01, 2011, 06:33:48 AM
This is a newer one. Quite contrasting to the older one. (Is that cryptic or what
)
I was looking at the following chant score at the time.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

This is very beautiful, and so far from Mahler's setting! I'm quite taken by this.

furtwaengler, Derek, and m1469: thank you for listening.
Unfortunately I am not familiar with Mahler's setting, so I went to look it up.
Didn't expect that! There is a surprising resemblance with the opening motif I chose. My intentions for the beginning of my piece were to gradually reveal the tonality of Eb major, thus the open 5th that seems to float around for a while.
I should listen to more Mahler. Thanks for pointing that out furtwaengler, it was a pleasant surprise.
