Lemma-Icon-Epigram
on: March 03, 2011, 07:20:11 AM

Would you guys consider this piece to even be remotely accessible, i.e. programmable in a general recital?  Or is it too challenging, aesthetically?
If this work is so threatening, it is not because it's simply strange, but competent, rigorously argued and carrying conviction.

I wouldn't like it that much, probably. But where I live, modern music is never every played. Maybe in Amsterdam or Hamburg, where the audience is a bit more used to all kid of music. But I might be wrong.

Thanks 11 for posting this. It made my day. Generally I dont like contemporary composers, but when someone manage to get it right, I am happy. Performing this is totally and VERY far beyond what I will ever be able to do, but I am going to steal everything I can manage for my improvisations. If you or anybody else here would(could) play this piece, I would love to hear it. I think the piece would sound better with a bit more subtle dynamics. Chords played as sonic ff explosions can be effective, but dont overdo it.
I think this composition has its rightful place in the tradition of classical music, aesthetically and musically, but I am aware that there are some that will not agree on that. :P
