Liszt - Totentanz
on: March 12, 2011, 11:37:26 PM
live recording.  i don't want to influence anyone's listening so i won't say anything about the orchestra. :) oops, i may have just influenced your listening...
at the clarinet solo about halfway thru, try and sympathize with me.

the conductor was very conservative and reacted negatively to an accelerando at the end, and he pointed out that the pianist should not even be playing... i said it depends on what scor eyou have (just made that up) and it's boring without hte pianist at the end... more or less got what i wanted. :)

enjoy!

Very much enjoyed your performance - thanks for sharing it!

And as for a clarinet, can't say as I heard one... but that trained duck you had on stage with you was quite impressive for its honking almost in key.

great performance, in my opinion. i love picturing things as i hear music and i could see skeletons dancing. i wish i had chances to play with an orchestra.

may i ask who you're playing with (a university/school orchestra? town?)?
Beethoven Sonata Op. 13 'Pathetique'
Beethoven Sonata Op. 31 No. 2 'Tempest'
Beethoven Sonata Op. 90
Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No. 17
Bach Italian Concerto

Hi anyhow,

Over the last few years you have really improved and refined your playing.  And more recently you've been appearing with orchestras too.  I think this marvelous performance of "Totentanz" indicates that you have a very promising and musical career ahead of you.  Great playing!  I really enjoyed your recording.
Interpreting music means exploring the promise of the potential of possibilities.

:)

in all my experience playing for singers and instrumentalists i never had to make so much contortions as i did in a smple tremolo to accomdoate the clarinet player...

As wonderful as it is, it do think that it just sound like lousy version of the one for the solo piano. Well played - now go work on the solo version! :D
