Complete This ARCT Program Please
on: March 17, 2011, 11:15:54 PM
Hi. I am working on my ARCT exam. I have all the pieces down except for the concert etude. Here is the pieces I already have:

Works of J.S. Bach: Prelude and Fugue in C Major (Book I)
Sonata: Beethoven Pathetique
Romantic: Schumann Papilions
Early 20th Century: Debussy Poissons de Orr
20th Century: a Chinese folk song arrangement (1 own choice allowed). Quite challenging. A lot of little trills, fast octaves, really far reaches. It is like La Campanella, slightly easier but technically around the same. About 8 minutes. Just would like to bring out a refreshing and unique selection here. Not some Prokofiev or something that the
examiner would have heard millions of times.

Now the concert etude. I would like to have something that is musically engaging and does not tire the hands to a degree that I cannot bring it out with my best quality. I don't know but I would love it if I can play a Chopin etude here, but any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
Pieces I am working on
Complete Chopin mazurkas
Pictures at an Exhibition
Beethoven Pathetique sonata
Schumann Papilions

Hi OO. Which one is Sunflower again? Don't remember.
Maybe I should consider No.5. I personally dislike Revolutionary though, and my teacher said that this piece is too overplayed.
Anything else? I know Im asking a lot, but anything from Op.25?
P.S. What do you think about Op. 10 No.4 and Arpeggio?

no.4 isn't in ARCT is it? I thought it was part of licentiate.

Op. 25 I like no.5.

Well, either way, it's pretty hard, if you wanna tackle it, great, but maybe playing a easier etude and perfect it to get a higher mark is smarter?
