Ballad Of Revolt
on: March 27, 2011, 08:02:42 AM
I've been searching for Ballad Of Revolt (1943) by the Norwegian composer Harald Saerverud (1897-1992). If anyone can direct me to a place where I might purchase a copy of the score I would be most appreciative. I would like to play this piece at a piano workshop this year. My net search thus far has been to no avail. Many thanks.

I tried to connect with this, but only got error message: Microsoft VB Script runtime error '800a01a8' object required:select single note (...)' . Is there another way to connect to this site?
Thanks for your assistance.

Yes, sorry, I can see that that didn't work out. (I did a search and I think the session must have expired, hence the error message.)

You can try this: https://www.mamut.net/fiolinmakern/shop/ and type in 101497 in the search box. Hope this helps!

Thanks, I did locate a folio of Saeverud piano music on the Fiolinmaker site in Norway and it's on the way. It was a bit expensive and shipping is steep, but it was the only source for Saeverud's music and worth the expense. A CD called "Saeverud Amorosa" from Amazon, of 23 selected solos, completes my current research. Your assistance is very much appreciated.

Oh good!

The CD was recorded by Jan Henrik Kayser, I believe. Kayser was a student of Saeverud and later also collaborated with him over a 40 year period. He should certainly be a good guide on how to play the Ballad. Also, this tutorial from youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OXbfek7o64 (Paul Barton) presents an interesting context for the piece.

Instead of creating a new thread for the same topic: Does anyone know where I can find the sheet music for Kjempeviseslåtten (Ballad of Revolt)? Preferably a digital version. I tried googling for it, with no luck. The links posted previously in this thread are dead now.
