Can someone identify this classical piece?
on: April 01, 2011, 04:38:46 PM
Hi. I randomly came upon this video about a house and it is playing a piece I seem to really like. I have no idea who it could be from. Seems classical. Maybe Mendelssohn? I really have no clue.

I bet its probably popular. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

It's Impromptu Op. 90 No. 3 by Schubert.

No that's not at all a stupid question :)

But I think you might want to listen to a better interpretation of this piece:

I never get the chance to answer these types of threads before anybody else, but I still enjoy checking the first post and seeing if I WOULD have gotten it. So far, so good.
It's a very nice Impromptu, I play it at weddings.

Your question was perfectly timed... for me, that is, since I just started learning this piece.  And thanks to pianowolfi for posting the Zimerman video, too.  Of course, I'm still taking it at a much slower tempo and it kinda-sorta works, but Krystian makes it really sing!  (The house-sales version, besides sounding like it was played on a mechanical toy or by a computer, is 'way too fast.)
