Rarely Heard Piano Music,.
on: April 04, 2011, 11:52:55 AM
Hi there! I have a big question  ??? I've just thought that my repertoire should also include pieces that are rarely heard or not overplayed. Suggestions please... :) probably works from the Romantic Era. It needs to be for the Intermediate level of playing.

Thanks so much!! ;D

What about try some Gustav Lind, https://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Lind,_Gustave has a small selection. I like his Piano Suite "In an old world city" which i picked up for $1.00 in a second hand shop!

Also Cecile Chaminade is wonderful. https://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Chaminade,_C%C3%A9cile

I like Autumn from the 6 concert etude and have played that since I was young, an old friend!

Medtner.  Very under appreciated.

Vierne.  Most known for his organ compositions, but he did write for piano.

Scriabin.  His early period is very romantic.

Czech composers: Smetana, Suk.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

I heard of this composer named Henselt some time ago, and I love his pieces. His etudes seem a little more advanced than intermediate, but he is worth a try!

How about a Weber Sonata? I don't know if he is that rarely heard, though I like his pieces, maybe you will (then again, I like every Romantic piece I have listened to).
