possible or not..?
on: April 05, 2011, 08:53:15 AM
Hi guys, I would like to know if what i am doing now, is good enough, or am I slacking off, especially if I want to study piano performance once i finish school.

I'm 15, I started taking 'actual' lessons since last year in October, before that, i self taught. Since October last year, I've been progressing amaaaazingly. Im on the piano, practising, 3-4 hours a day on weekdays and 4-5 hours on weekends. I haven't done any exams, at all. (Would I have to do any exams before hand, to get into the conservatory?) My theory is at level 4/5 standard. Recently I have polished and performed Debussy's Clair De lune & 1st Abaresque, and also Chopin's etude op.10 no.3. Im currently working on Rachmaninoff's Prelude in B minor, op. 32 no. 10 and also Haydn's sonata in E flat major (allegro moderato) Hob XV1 38 (something like that).

So with what you know now, is what im doing now, good enough for my age and for someone that wants to continue progressing majourly in piano and music in the future? Or as i said before, am i slacking off, and can and needs to do more?
It's kinda weird but I hope this is making sense to you people. :)

If you can - can you post a couple of recordings, just to give us an idea of how polished the pieces are???

I swear, I don't mean to offend (if it sounds like that), but you get the occasional player who says they're studying a Chopin Ballade, but what they present to us is audible diarrhea.

It would help give us a baseline of how well you are doing so far, and will give us a better standard of what the universities and colleges might think.
