Are you sure that piano in the background wasn't better sounding then the one you played?  I know it's prokofiev and it's a percussive pianism at times, but that lucious second movement really suffered.  And the last movement didn't seem to get off the ground at times.  But it certainly wasn't your fault - your keyboard gift is impeccable.  With your technique you can really bring the house down.  Try the precipitoso a little bit slower and make the ostinato just what it says.  Ostinato.  Never change the color or dynamics.  Immutable from beginning to end.  And a little less pedal.  It's much more effective, believe me.
Great playing, nonetheless!

Love to listen to a lot of Beethoven sonatas, but started
to recently hear the Prokofiev sound as my son is attempting
Sonata no. 3 in A minor .....  my!!! the 7th is so much more demanding!!
Let me just say ... I ENJOYed your playing.

I also follow a lot of Birba's comments (so with a few others)...  piano
educated guys have really a unique way of hearing things that we ordinary
mortals would never pick up. ;D  So 2 birds with one stone .... enjoying and
learning at the same time.  ;D

The other piano was a yamaha G5 with very a delicate/sweet sound - not right for a piece like this imho. Out of the three movements I think the 2nd went best  :o!!! There is space for even that contradictory opinions in music - isnt that great?

But....... the dynamics writen down by Prokofiev have it that the ostinato ranges from mf to ff????? Interesting though - maybe it is more effective that way and such a liberty could be justified because of the character of the music. I will definately give it a try...

Thank you both for your time.  :)
