scanning things to show up here
on: August 12, 2004, 05:44:56 AM
I've noticed that periodically forum members will post a section out of music to ask for suggestions, or in discussion, or for some other reason.  How does somebody post small chunks of scores on here?

I haven't actually done it, however I "think" that you use the 2nd from the left icon where it shows "hyperlink", then insert your link address between and it should work. If you have your scores saved on a Pdf. file or other, you could just put that address in as well. Hope this helps.

1.  Get a good free image viewer/editor.
There is one available here:
https://www.irfanview.com/

Download that and install it.

2.  If you have the score in pdf format, open it by double clicking on the pdf file (it should open in Acrobat Reader).  Whatever format you have it in, get the score so you can see the part you want on your desktop, then hit the "print screen" button on your keyboard.

3. Open irfanview and choose edit > paste.  This should paste a picture of the score into the program.  You'll want to trim down the picture so click and hold down the left mouse button and drag to make a box around the area you want, then hit edit > crop selection.

4. Go to file > save as.  Change the options at the bottom so it says "save as type JPG JPEG Files"  And save the image somewhere as a jpeg.

5.  You need to go to a free site that lets you host pictures.  Someone else on here used this site and it worked for them:
https://www.uploadit.org/
Sign up there and upload the picture.  I havent tried this site, but hopefully it's not too hard to figure out from there.  Once you upload it, it should tell you what the url for the picture will be.

6.  Post it in here using "img" tags like this:
[img ]https://www.uploadit.org/whatever/whatever/blah.jpg[/img]

does anybody know of any free uploading websites that offer very generous storage?  I tried using the free uploadit account-none of the files i wanted to upload would fit, lol.

Although you must go to the site itself to download a file via a link ( The image wont just show up) 35mb.com starts you off with 35 MB of free space with 35 MB being the max upload limit. And  the more people that download... The more space you get!!! I've already gotten up to 41 MB just from links posted here.

You need to place the link between two img tags:
Code: [Select]
[img]https://server2.uploadit.org/files/menancyandsam-Rondeau2.jpg[/img]

Paste this line into your message and the image will be visable.
