Bach/Liszt P&F in A minor
on: April 19, 2011, 04:43:39 PM
I am new to this wonderful forum so hope this kind of post is ok! Was introduced to this transcription seeing Lise de la Salle on Youtube, amazing music, she makes it look so easy.

Does anyone have the fingering for this piece that they can send me, as I have problems working out fingering and am currently going through a phase of finding hard to commit to fingerings in case there are better ones which don't necessarily feel natural at first but would be better in the long run, if you know what I mean!

Many thanks

I assume you are talking about the BWV 543 transcription? I'm currectly playing this piece, and could probably help you out a bit   :)

What passages do you have trouble with the fingering? It's absolutely true that the fingering is not obvious in every passage in this piece, sometimes it's up to you to choose what you think works best, I know I use some pretty unintuitive fingerings in places. If you post images/scans of the parts you are uncertain about I could have a look at them and compare with what I use/give you suggestions :)

If you liked Lise de la Salle you should definitely look up Roland Pöntinen playing this Prelude & Fugue on youtube. It's amazing!

Thanks for your kind offer lelle, having listened to a few more interpretations including the one you suggested, I have to be realistic and say I am not ready to tackle this music and not sure if I ever will be!

The fugue is very long and though I love the piece I must stay with music that is within my grasp rather than wasting time tinkering with masterpieces I will never own...

Maybe sometime in the future! Anyway I wish you all the best with your playing and thanks for replying
