Liszt nocturne S. 190a ???
on: May 01, 2011, 07:51:30 PM
I have a recording of this lovely piece, but the sheet music is IMPOSSIBLE to find!

Does anyone have it? I would really appreciate any help!

If you don't know it, search for "liszt 190a" on iTunes and click on the album from Leslie Howard (Gaudeamos Igitur)

Thanks in advance!

I know the sheet music for the Impromptu, S.191 (second version of this work) is on IMSLP. You can listen to that and see how you like it, since it is quite the same; almost exactly.

Unfortunately, if you insist on getting the first version, I don't think it is published by the New Liszt Edition, and it may never be, since the New Liszt Edition doesn't focus on earlier versions of works, but sometimes in the supplement. The Liszt Society however (not to be confused with the American Liszt Society) may publish it in one of their publications.
Currently working on:
*Prelude, Op.23 N.4 (Rachmaninoff)
*Prelude & Fugue in F major, WTC II (Bach)
...not fully decided on what else to start (most likely will be a Liszt, Schubert, or Medtner)...

The ending is quite different, but it's alright. I don't know why it is called Nocturne on my Leslie Howard recording if it is an impromptu..

Thanks!!

Hmm...Well, Searle calls it a Impromptu. It may just be a misprint by Hyperion Records...
