Scriabin F Sharp minor Concerto
on: May 10, 2011, 11:13:24 AM
Has anyone on this forum attempted the concerto? From what I have read, it is very very rarely played...Probably due to the insane rhythms and synchronization between piano and orchestra...never the less, it is one of my favorite concertos, especially the first movement, and the ending of the third movement. I love bermans recording of it.
Any ideas of why its not performed often?

I think it is a beautiful piece, and I have a great recording by Dimitri Bashkirov.  Also, here is a twenty-five-year-old recording of my undergraduate piano teacher playing the piece:

As to why it is not performed, it seems that the piece has not made it into the canon (or is out of vogue at the moment) . . . Would certainly love to hear it live, though!
