I left, then came back 4 or 5 days later
on: May 11, 2011, 07:34:04 PM
It wasn't one of my proudest moments. I thought we could all just forget about it so I changed the title and message into - , but then retrouvailles got "that time of the month", so now I change it back!

I'm sorry. It was immature and stupid.

Original title: I leave now
Original message: Too many f-ers here! bye

But now I'm back! And I've also created a "I'm sorry"-topic. Read it if you want.

Too many f-ers here.

bye

I am Spanish and don't know what's a f-er is, but it must be bad. Please, forgive f-ers as they don't know what they do and don't leave us, we'll miss you all indeed!

99 out of 100 times, people they say they are going but don't. The ones that do go, never actually tell us.

I even did it once myself when the forum was plagued with tambo bangers.

With the piano music side of things the trick is to help and contribute to the best of one's ability, absorb whatever knowledge seems useful, don't take either praise or criticism too seriously and never argue or debate. The last is a pity in some ways, because of course, with friends of radically diverse conviction in person we argue and debate flat out and nobody thinks any less of anyone. The internet is indeed peculiar in this respect, which is unfortunate.

Interesting, wanna elaborate?

Sure. I have come to the conclusion it must have something to do with the time between statement and response on the internet. It allows people of a querulous nature to brood on what somebody has posted for up to a day. If an unintented meaning is imparted or inferred, as is often the case with these forum arguments, it cannot be settled quickly and, if not in agreement, at least amicably, as would be the case in a live, real-time discussion.

I cannot think of another likely reason, as I have been in many group situations, piano parties and so on, where guests, musicians, players, have very diverse and opposing views about music, and voice them, but they never erupt into the sort of emotional farce one sees on forums. It is a mystery, and I don't imagine that is the whole reason.

Not just to the OP but to others in general.

If you feel you have to leave, then do so. If you feel you have to post a last parting message, do so. Why? The fact that leaving crossed your mind is a signal that something's wrong and more importantly, you could be better off in other places.

Second is the issue of leaving a parting message deemed "dramatic" or "oh he'll be back". Ignore those. It is still a good notification to those who care for you in the forum.

Be grateful that many posted to say how they appreciated you. In my case, I left a forum with a message of gratitude to all those who cared for me there. I really felt it important that they know I appreciated all the things they did for me. However, the admins (who wanted to get rid of me for years but couldn't do so since I never violated any of the rules they set) deleted that post immediately and every single opportunity for me to thank the community. I don't know what happened after that since when they deleted my post I decided to leave it at that and haven't visited that forum ever since.

Oh my!! :( another guy of value lost!  about 5 years with 1200+ posts.
Yes Pianisten1989 could sometimes come so strong and seem mean, but
for most part he was generally helpful and contributed well to the piano
education of a good number here.  I have noticed though that he had some
heated discussions lately and lost his cool. I just hope he reconsiders and just
look at things from afar ....  overall, he is an asset to pianostreet.

Come on Pianisten1989 .... just don't mind them ... just keep your cool.

Yupp, I couldn't live without the lovely retrouvailles!
Maybe I am a coward then? Dammit, I'm a coward/changed my mind on the internet! I have to be the only one! =/

The reason why I came back after my long absence was because you were incapable of  helping ppl who were asking for help. If you'd done that, I wouldn't have returned... Which was kind of the reason why I left. So stop being cool kids over the internet with your cool sarcastic comments, and start doing something useful.

and retrouvailles, I've missed you too! I surely couldn't live with your... well... No wait, you haven't said anything of value in the last 5 years..! I wouldn't miss you either, biatch!

Well, there are many people that would disagree with that, but hey, anyone can say anything here. I can dish it out and I can take it. I only make such "nasty" comments to people who I feel deserve it. I am nice to most people here regularly. When I get irritated though, watch out.

Oh, dammit! =/I've called the wrath on the mighty retrouvailles!... over the internet...

But yeah, maybe a bit embarrassing that I only lasted like 3 days... So sorry about that. You have all the right to make fun of me. I would too.

But we've all done things when we're upset, so I blame that...

Just wondering, do you think you're some sort of an internet judge with the power of deciding for everyone whether they're right or wrong?

@pianisten:
I've always respected your opinions and thought you were one of the few knowledgeable and helpful people left, after the becky incident. I would've been sad had you left. However, this thread really made me lose all the respect I had for you. Not that my respect is worth anything, but still.

It's just as thal says; those who really want to leave won't make a fuss about it. (@ahinton: perhaps you forgot stevebob?)

But you are man enough to admit your mistake, which is good, and earned back your respect. Still I wish would people stop making these threads; if you really want to leave because of one person annoying you, go ahead.

Haha I used to post in an Austrian forum where this happened all the time. People would get upset and mad at each other and every other day people opened threads that they are fed up and leave and will never return, never ever. There were always those who were sad and begged "please stay we'll miss you" and others were like "what the... if you want to leave just leave and don't open this kind of attention-seeker thread, I don't care about you you f****ç%&%" Of course most of those people did return after a while  ;D

Just don't take it too seriously.

Oh, just this entire ploy to grab some attention. Most people here don't create a thread to grad attention before they leave and then just try to erase evidence of it like it never happened.
