Matsuev is fantastic! I can't stop watching him. I am not sure I would ever have the guts to end the piece like that! You would look like a fool if they didn't start clapping right away. He is right up there with Pollini and Richter in my personal favorites. Are the other movements as good? Thanks so much for that video!

It's on his 2007 Carnegie Hall Recital on RCA...I haven't heard it in a while, but as I recall it's nearly as intense. It also includes an amazing performance of Liszt's Sonata, Schumann's Kinderszenen, and Ginzburg's In the Hall of the Mountain King, which just defies belief!
