Yundi Li gets a deal with Nike?

Incredible I just saw a Nike commercial featuring Yundi Li and some Olympic cyclist, set to Grieg's a minor concerto...Yundi Li wakes up late for a concert and bikes there and its like a wierd parallel between him and the cyclist.  The punchline at the end was "You're faster than you think" just as Li starts the Concerto from the beginning.  Its actually pretty cool...could this spawn a generation of younger superstar pianists who get Lebron James style contracts?

It was a pretty cool commercial...I've always said pianists are as much athletes as the next athlete.

Good for him :)

Maybe my friends will start listening more sophisticated music than Ludacris now? maybe not. Although Luda is rather talented at swinging that southern slang.

ANyway ya, Yundi Li...Nike....incredible.

That olympic cyclist was Lance Armstrong.  Nike is one of his sponsors.

One of the best commercials I've seen in quite some time.

Speaking of the Olympics, I heard (but have not yet seen) that the British (?) women's triathlon team were wearing speedos that when wet became see-through! :D

Unfortunately, the suit designer had to sew another piece of spandex over it.    :(

I wish they didn't use that concerto because now whenever it's heard, people will be like "oh that music from the nike olympics commercial" instead of "oh Grieg's concerto!", simply because of it's sharp and very definite a minor octave chords.  Bah.

They should've used something more like Beethoven's 1 PC 3rd Movement, something more lively for the bike scene.

And Lance Armstrong didn't even compete in the Olympics because he wanted to spend time with his kids.

And maybe Li didn't know that Beethoven Concerto.

I thought it was an INCREDIBLE commercial!!!!  Did anyone read my thread?  I asked about another Olympics commercial.  The coca-cola commercial where a black lady is walking down a busy sidewalk and singing.  What song is she singing? Who is she?  (I hope that she isnt somebody famous--I don't get into pop music) She walks down the sidewalk while singing.  She is carrying a bag and she reaches in and hands a bottle of Coke to a surprised looking person.  It's really cool!!  Is that commercial still going to be on?  I wish I had taped it!!

I seem that commercial with Yund Li.  what's the point?   :o  Is there a message?  What were they advertising?  Wasn't sure if they were advertising for a piano, cycle, sports wear, etc?   :(  If it wasn't for the logo "Nike." who knows what they were advertising? ::)
