Trills :P
on: May 24, 2011, 03:25:19 PM
Hi! I'm new here and I'm not playing very long. Now I'm working on first movement of Mozart's 1st sonata KV 279 in C major. Everything is very nice and easy, but i have problem with trills.   :(
I don't know what to do, becouse i don't tense or anything like that, but the sound is just very muddy, sometimes I even hit 2 notes at the same time.  ::) And, of course i can't play any longer trill. It's interesting, cos' i don't have this problem with my left hand, only with right. And right is my "better" hand.  :o
If You could give me any advice, please, I would be very graceful.

I would say the metronome is your best friend in this case   ;D

Play a trill as fast as is comfortable for you, even if it seems slow, play this to a metronome. Keep the trill going as long as you can to build stamina and learn control by keeping it in time. Push the tempo up, maybe 5-10 bpm, or whatever is comfortable and keep doing this until you can do it to the speed you need to play at. Might take you a couple of days, but just add this into your practice regime and you'll improve by leaps and bounds I'm sure.

Don't forget to train all your fingers!

Hope this helps you  :)

How about the chord attack method? Is that doable on something like a trill?
