How Many Hours Should You Practice the Piano? – The Lines Between Science, Method and Passion

It is a timeless question, a persistent voice in the mind of every pianist: “How many hours must I practice to truly improve?” It springs from a perfectly legitimate desire to measure the commitment required to transform our ambitions into sound, whether that means playing a simple minuet or dreaming of the world’s most prestigious stages. I know the seasons and the coriolis effect are reversed between the northern and southern hemispheres.

But is the length of days also reversed?  Longer daylight hours during the summer for the northern hemisphere.... and shorters winter days for the souther hemisphere?

Any Aussies or Kiwis here who can let me know for sure?

Do you have a planetarium near you?

If not, an orange and a light from one direction.  Tilt and turn the orange. You'll see the effect.

I was thinking it's probably a grade school level science question.

I'm pretty sure it's just the opposite of the northern hemisphere.  So they would have shorter days up until around June 21st.

I was off to do something when I answered before and I see my remarks were incomplete.

Use the stem as the N/S axis. Tilt the orange so the North Pole just. gets light. Then mark the orange where the border of light/dark falls. Do the same tilting the orange so the South Pole just gets light and mark the borders of light/dark. Then compare the marks.
