Repertoire Staples (Not too Overplayed)
on: May 30, 2011, 03:31:09 PM
What are some repertoire staples that are familiar to the ear, but are not overplayed? Not too hard, just something manageable for an advanced amateur. Nothing for virtuoso please ;D

yeah, you have to do a bit more effort than "advanced amateur". You should record some of your playing, or at least show us a repertoire list. I assume this is for the competition, so your teacher will know better than we will.

Also debussy's arabesques, reverie, valse romantique? Albeniz's Tango Op 165, No 2? Tchaikovsky the seasons, 37b, there are a few very famous pieces here. Especially June. Beautiful too. These are all relatively easier 'staples', but are still played quite a large amount. Ravel's Pavane Pour Infante Defunte is another...Should the difficulty be up to grade 8, or possibly first level of diploma? It would be helpful to know ;D

How can you play Chopin op 10/2 and Gnomenreigen if you don't go above 8? :S

My friend is asking me.... I showed her the pieces I could play, she said ''that's too hard''. So I asked in the forum if anybody knows some of them.
