Help a fellow pianist, please.

Hi, I'm a 17 year old boy who have been playing for 2 years now, and haven't come far yet, because of a lot of school, familiy issues etc. I really want to become a better pianist. It's burning inside me!! ::) Well, the case is, i don't know what to play. I want it to be something classical, and iv'e been searching a lot for some pieces... I've been playing pieces like Yann Tiersen and a little Carl Nielsen from his "Humoresque Bagatelles." What next? Please, give me some advice.

Do you have a teacher?  That is really important because you may develop bad habits without one.  The teacher can set you down the straight and narrow.

I recommend the path I did as I quickly moved up.  Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach (Minuets Mostly) then when you are comfortable move on to the 2 part inventions, finish half of them, which ever you like, then mix in French Suites, then move on to the English Suites.  Then 3 part inventions, fugues, well - tempered clavier and bob's your uncle!

Also do Czerny 599 and Hanon for finger excercises, these are even more important that the pieces you will do for fun.  The most important is play music you like!
