Master`s Complete Classical Sonata
on: June 05, 2011, 09:43:43 AM
Hi,

I wish to audition for a Master`s in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. I need a complete Classical Sonata either by Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart or Schubert. I have learnt the "Tempest" and the "Waldstein" and am presently embarking on Haydn C major Hob. XVI/50. However, from an audition point of view, I suppose the "Waldstein" is overplayed. I don`t really want to play the "Tempest" because I want to learn a completely new sonata. Any suggestions ?

If you've played Waldstein, you can probably play most Beethoven, most Haydn. Just pick whatever you like...

In my area Tempest is much more overplayed then the Waldstein.

Just pick a sonata that shows your strengths.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Les Adieux? Maybe a bit less overplayed, and wonderful.
