What to play/practice?
on: June 16, 2011, 08:10:35 PM
Hello, fellow piano-enthusiasts!

I know, that this forum is flooded by posts of this character, but anyway - here it goes.

I'm 18 years old and would like to play something, that's not too difficult, but still enormously flashy (like anyone else, apparently  ;)).

My current goal is to, at some point, be able to play Liszt's transcriptions on Händels "Almira", which is just astonishing.

My repetoire currently consists of Debussy's first arabesque, Chopin's walz Opus 69 No. 1, Clair de Lune and Bach's 8th invention. All of these i've been learning over the last two years - my education forbids me to learn more, faster.

These are my question:
1) Does anyone have experiences with the Almire-transscription?
2) Is it easy/hard compared to other compositions by Lizst?
3) Could i start practicing now or should i keep finding these small pieces before starteing on "the Almira"?
And if i should find more pieces, have you then any reccomendations for students at my level?

Greetings from Denmark.
