Theremin - Anyone here has made one?
on: June 16, 2011, 09:54:06 PM
I want to start some weekend projects, because my weekends are being too much boring.

I found this website: https://www.theremin.us/100/minimum.html

It cointains everything needed to make a theremin.

Does anyone knows if its expensive or too difficult to make?

Well, have you ever done any electronics before? That's a very simple circuit and for anyone with at least a little experience in electronics it would be very easy to make (and it's certainly cheap, just a few $ for parts). If you've never assembled an electronic kit before you can expect some hair-pulling!

I remember seeing it the first time in the cartoon of I.M.Weasel, I thought that it didn't exist, that the writers imagined it and put it as a comical and annoying device.

Years ago, I got surprised that the device really existed, I couldn't believe that it really exists. And it's the one that is used for the alien plots in the movies.

Because of my curiosity, I started to want to make one.  What I need now is the components and time to do it.

A friend of mine made a theremin when I was in high school. He said that he bought a kit of eBay for next to nothing, and it was rather easy to make. Then again, he was Asian and was one of the smartest people I have ever known. Good luck.

I found some kits like that, but its not a "make yourself" kit. Everything is ready, you just need to put everything togheter
