Chabrier - "Scherzo-Valse"
on: June 23, 2011, 02:27:01 AM
Eek! My first video in the audition room. I did one take of this, and was not looking to do another. I resurrected this piece today after not playing for a long time; thought it would be fun just to see some [reactions] haha, because it's pretty damn rushed and a little sketchy in a few spots.
I have a Young Chang at home, and my iPhone video only works so well
so the dynamic goes from about mf to ff.
Posted for fun, mostly because not a lot of people are familiar with Chabrier, so please don't kill me (especially the last 5 seconds ack)
I'm tempted to do a retake, so I might get a better sound capturing device and spend a little more time working on it.

Well played Nanabush. Fantastic. Good dynamic control and fluent, confident passgework and a satisfying and exciting overall performance.
Perhaps work on shaping the long phrases triplet phrases so that they sound more 'musical' and less 'perfunctory'.

Hi Nanabush
I'm not familiar with this piece, but you bring to it a fine articulation, control of touch, and expressiveness too. This is certainly a convincing rendition. I enjoyed listening.

Never heard this before. What a delicate sparkling gem.
Well played that man.
