Pieces composed by my kid
on: June 29, 2011, 12:28:58 PM

My kid like to compose, here are two small pieces in concert.
His teacher said he is not good enough to be a piano performer.
Any comment is welcome.

Does your kid really compose those pieces?, they sound nice in my point of view (or in this case, in my ears' point of view), specially the second one.

Which pieces does he like?, which is his favourite composer?

@faa2010 , Yes, he composed all by himself. I and his teacher were so surprised. He learned just two years, I think he didn't know any composer.
It's a headache to find a teacher in composing.

Those pieces are lovely and a good start in composition. It's always hard finding a composition teacher, but at his young age it might not be helpful to get too technical in composition anyway. You can help him by encouraging him to listen to lots of different styles of music in order to feed his imagination. If he has friends who play other instruments he could write pieces for his friends to get experience of writing for other instruments.

Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
