George Steck Console
on: July 02, 2011, 02:39:55 PM
My mother has a George Steck Console piano that she got new when she was 12 so it's probably from 1958. Since my parents have recently sold their house, they are trying to figure out what to do with it. I've tried to search online to see their value, but I'm not finding any console style pianos for sale at all. I found some upright Stecks (and obviously the baby grands), but the console is definitely different.
Does anyone know if these are a "dime a dozen" type item? Obviously it holds sentimental value. I'm just wondering if anyone is interested in these so we can decide whether to move it, sell it, or give it away.
Thanks.

I would say Move. It is middle aged in piano terms, relatively modern, reasonable make. Wouldn't fetch that much, and doesn't take massive amounts of space. Won't be overpowering sound wise for a smaller place.
