a short schubertian

This is sort of modeled after arpeggiated schubertian impromptus. I kinda messed up the cadence at the end. Oh well, I continue to improve at this common practice stuff. It's challenging.

Excellent stuff!  You have captured the Schubertian style very effectively.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Thanks, this was the manifestation of a recent "oscillation" to the "imitate a dead person" side of my musicianship. As of posting this response I've swung back to the "where is my voice?" side. haha.

If that was done without any prior thought it is very clever, and a charming little piece in its own right. I think we must be wary of assigning either a lesser or a greater value to music because its style resembles somebody else's. The truth is that it doesn't matter. We have the whole of musical history and our own ideas too; let us enjoy the lot as we please regardless of similarity or difference.

Very nice and beautiful improv! :) Actually yes Schubert is certainly in the background, but it's not a copy, it has much of an original character.

I did some similar ones on Mendelssohn and Bach. I do not often stylistic "etudes" like this, but sometimes I like it, or I want to express something very particular with it.
