Paulena Carter, recording: "97 Keys"
on: July 06, 2011, 03:43:59 AM
Are any of you familiar with Paulena Carter's recording titled "97 Keys?"
I bought an old album of this many years ago and then, recently, bought the new "digitally remastered" CD from
www.amazon.com
You can hear samples of this at amazon and I'd like to hear some of your opinions regarding this recording. This recording was my introduction to classical music, concert pianists and the great sound of a concert grand piano.
They evidently made a mistake on the back of the album cover when they said the piano was a Bechstein since no one seems to know of a Bechstein with this many keys. I expect the 97 keys part is right but the piano is a Bosendorfer. What else could it be back in the 60's?
I don't know if Paulena is still living or not. Believe she was born in 1930. She played with the Los Angeles Symphony and perhaps also the San Francisco. I have another recording of her playing with famous conductor Bruno Walter. She had her own radio show for awhile.
Hope to hear from some of you.
