Piano Buying Advice??
on: July 09, 2011, 07:22:40 PM
Hi everyone,

I am new to the world of piano but have decided to buy a grand piano with the player system on it.  I have narrowed my options down to a brand new 5'7" Story and Clark in the box direct from the factory or a used 1999 Young Chang Pramberger PG 185 6'1" that is in excellent condition and the player will be installed at the QRS factory. I can get both for 10,000.  Can anyone give me some advice on which way to go?

Both are Korean pianos made by Young Chang. Pick the one you like best after extensive testing.

Just go for brand new 5'7" Story and Clark, it be will better any time than the used one though the used one is in excellent condition.

The OP is considering a couple of good quality acoustic pianos.

Yet you post a link to a blog that covers digital pianos ... and only covers the cheapest digital pianos ... and only quotes the manufacturers' press release blather.

How is that helpful?

I would recommend that you have the YC checked out by a tuner-tech and, if all checks out well, I would go with it. The reason? The 6'1" Pramberger (which I believe was built in South Korea) will have a bigger and better quality sound than the 5'7" Story & Clark (which I believe is built in China). Just my 2 cents...

The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more
