Second opinion
on: July 13, 2011, 01:11:28 PM
I'm a self-taught pianist who would like a second opinion as to the pieces I want to learn after I finish my current piece. I am in the middle of teaching myself Sonata No.8 3rd Movement by Beethoven and have just finished the part where it is quite slow, and is just after the first repetition of the introduction, if that is the right term. Anyway, after this piece, I am thinking of learning the 2nd movement of that sonata, then Clair de Lune by Debussy, and finally Liebestraume No.3 by Liszt, in that order. I can comfortably play Rondo alla Turca and Fur Elise. I am aware that Liebestraume is a very hard piece, but I wanted to know if anyone thinks this is too big a gap between the three pieces I want to learn and my level of ability.
And if it will be of help, here is a video of me from last month and one taken just then, just to show how much I can learn and so on.And please don't criticize the videos too much, as it is not meant to be a finished product.
: Last month
: recently
Are there any suggestions and advice you can give me, such as pieces to learn in between them to prepare for the next piece.
