Schumann Complete Solo Piano Works Collection
on: July 15, 2011, 09:02:37 PM
I have been trying to find a book, or a series of volumes with Schumann's complete works for solo piano, but have had no luck on sheetmusicplus.com.

Does ANYONE know how I can purchase or find a book with his complete works?

Thank you.
Paul

Peters Edition in 5 volumes, and Dover in 3 (?).

I have one of the Dovers.  It's not too bad.
Albeniz: Suite Española #1, Op 47,
Bach: French Suite #5 in G,
Chopin: Andante Spianato,
Chopin: Nocturne F#m, Op 15 #2
Chopin: Ballade #1 Gm & #3 Aflat Mj

The Dover edition is good - it's a facsimile reprint of Clara Schumann's edition, originally published by Breitkopf.

Hey,
I think henle also came out with the complete piano works of Schumann in a couple of volumes. As with all henle though, it is quite expensive and as I have never used these copies, i cannot attest to the quality of these editions. Check out hutchinsandrea.com

I have one of the henle volumes, and eventually will get the whole set once I get more cash. I'm quite a fan of henle in general though as the paper and binding are of such high quality, and the editors are always thoughtful.

The Henle edition is mor expensive partly because it's far more comprehensive - it includes draft versions, revisions etc that you won't find anywhere else. For instance there's the early draft of the op 7 Toccata (originally conceived as a study) and two versions of the Op 5 Impromptus. Few people will need or want these, however!
