Conlon Nancarrow 3 Studies (Nr.12,21,37)
on: July 22, 2011, 06:12:42 AM
I have created midifiles from the score and rendered them with samples of a Tackpiano to come close to the original "playerpiano" Nancarrow used.
In my humble opinion, there is no other way to meet the demands of those incredible compositions except the pianorolls, Nancarrow had produced himself.
The first one (Nr.12) is Nancarrows Idea of hispanic flavour in Pianoroll-virtuosity ;)

In his Study Nr.21 You can hear a Canon of a line that constantly speed up in opposite direction, so that the second voice constantly slows down.

The Study Nr.37 is a Canon in twelve parts, which all have slightly different tempos. I suppose no human will ever be able to play anything like that, meanwhile it is an incredilble composition.
