So can ya guys tell me (well who ever lives or visited downunder) what the cool places and hot spots are. I'm not planning to go to the outback, but stay in Sydney and Brisbane, so yeah I'm rather happy to be takin' da plane over there this weekend.  Let's do Super Happy Vacation!    :P

ok well as a sydneyer i can tell you a few things to see! but as for brisbane, i don't know what's there except for the million theme parks up there so you could check them out.

sydney: duh opera house and harbour bridge, darling harbour is beautiful, the rocks is also nice, ummm art gallery of nsw if you like art, chances are there'll be some form of music conert going on maybe by the sydney symphony orchestra which is always good. bondi or manly beach- weather's quite good at the moment for that!

ME!!!! come visit me!!! hahaha if you like to shop then try oxford street in paddington and you'll pass the college of fine arts and i will be there!! go look in some tourist brouchures and on the internet and i'm sure you'll find many other things to do. oh there's luna park at milson's point which is cool

Taronga Zoo is a must - even if you don't like animals. The view is spectacular, as is climbing the harbour bridge (if you have the money and fortitude).

Take a picnic to the Botanical Gardens, walk around McArthurs Point.  A ride on the old green and yellow ferries is a must and a great way to take in the harbour.

The Blue Mountains are lovely to visit with some very quaint bed and breakfasts, go see the Three Sisters and there's a pretty steep cable car ride.  Great bushwalking.  Much more peaceful adventure than Sydney.

Brisbane is more like a big sprawling country town than a city.  For shopping and just hanging out with the locals, go to Brisbane Mall - large music centre called Allan's Music is definitely worth a visit.

Walk across the bridge and head for South Bank where they held World Expo in 1988.  There's still a man made beach, volleyball, picnic areas, tons of restaurants and cafes, small galeries.

Then there's the Lyric Theatre that always has Opera, Musicals or other large music events.  Pretty much opposite is the Conservatorium that always has performances.   Across the road is the ART Gallery.
You can catch the ferries to back on the other side and try your hand in the Casino (also a good place to get some cheap food!).
Markets are held on a Saturday, and if you're lucky to score a particular Sunday, there's free classical music sometimes at the Botanical Gardens, sometimes at South Bank.

The Gold Coast is South of Brisbane with some very good beaches, heaps of night life and food! and of course there's the theme parks:  Movie World, Dream World, Wet 'n' Wild and Sea World.   You can get a three day pass that includes three of them, and sometimes includes accomodation as well.  If you're rich and money is no object, definitely stay at NARA RESORT which is attached to Sea World.

And your PS2 games are BLOODY EXPENSIVE!

Like $99.99 AUD for Final Fantasy X-2...
We'll treat the CDN and AUS currency at par 1:1
FF X-2 Is like $35.00 CDN here at most retail outlet stores.
Yeh...stuff's expensive there but still affordable...but certainly not PS2 stuff.  Or video games for that matter....
Must be the extra costs in converting into PAL format..oh another non-incentive for me to buy video games there...
Well at least I saw a few EB games stores...that made me happy.... ;)
