Kitten On The Keys
on: July 24, 2011, 09:39:37 PM

I don't know if it's a requirement that it has to be classical pieces here, but I want to share a video on me playing a ragtime piece. Kitten On The Keys by Zez Confrey. The piece was written in 1921.

Please leave a comment!

Best regards
David

Very good indeed ! Thanks for posting this piece, which you play very well. The early decades of the twentieth century saw a wonderful flowering of pianists and composers in this and similar styles. Zez Confrey, Billy Mayerl, Raymond Turner and many others were all extremely talented musicians who chose to express their ideas in the idiom known as the novelty rag. Luckily, through the internet and various remasterings, we can now access and appreciate their style independently of fashion, and value it for the accomplished piano music it really is.

Don't worry about classical bias on this forum, we're pretty broadminded here.

Great!!!  It would be a wonderful encore!  I think I recognize it.  You play it good, too!  You have a loose wrist and you never tighten up. good going!
