i was wondering if the Bartok excercises are good for improvement. i'm a begginer almost intermediate. Any one tried this excercises?.

Bartok wrote these exercises as studies for the 20th century pianist. He wrote that the piece "appears as a synthesis of all the musical and technical problems which were treated and in some cases only partially solved in the previous piano works."

Volumes 1 and 2 can be considered beginner, 3 and 4 intermediate, 5 and 6 advanced. Along with being great educational tools for pianists, they also show unique compositional techniques. All very important if you want to continue to study Bartok and pre 1950 piano compositions.
