Grade these pieces
on: July 26, 2011, 06:06:05 AM
Some of these pieces might be too hard to grade?
Anyways, it might be hard to grade some of these since they're jazz and may not be officially graded, so maybe we could use our own judgement.
Just curious...
Fur Elise
Moonlight Sonata, movement 1, 2, 3
Bach's Goldberg Variations
Liszt La Campanella
Mozart's 12 variations ("twinkle little star")
Prokofiev, Suggestion Diabolique
Rach 3 (better entitled as "Mach 3," lol)
Islamey by Balakirev
Flight of the Bumblebee by Rachmaninoff
Flight of the Bumblebee by Cziffra
Chopin, Octave Etude
Chopin, Fantaisie Imromptu (can anyone give me a reason why this is so cliched as a hard piece?)
Chopin, Minuet Waltz
Bach, Toccata & Fugue
The Entertainer, Scott Joplin
Fingerbreaker, Jelly Roll Morton
Fingerbuster, Willie The Lion Smith
Handful of Keys, Fats Waller
Maple Leaf Rag, Scott Joplin
Tea for Two, Art Tatum
Tiger Rag, Art Tatum
...so, any ideas?

These aren't simply the songs themselves, these are arrangements done by jazz pianists. Now "what would be their grade if you learned it by note"?

La Campanella is LTCL,
Moonlight was grade 8 I think?
Fur Elise is very easy...
You can find all of those in ABRSM or Trinity syllabuses if you are interested

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with piano grading so much. I've spent less than 2 years in piano, most of which isn't done in schools. So, can someone please familiarize what "RCM" or "LTCL" is? What's the ranking?
