grade 6 ABRSM
on: July 29, 2011, 03:17:57 PM
im learning grade 6 and can't afford a teacher at the moment i have a few questions:

1)how do i play and acciacatura if the grace note is the same as the principal note?
2)how do i play staccato dots if the dots are in square brackets?
3)how do i play a trill sign if its in square brackets?
4)how do i play mignon B3 piece grade 6 2011/12 left hand first two bars?
5)if the piece states the way a trill should be played should i play all other trills in that piece the same way unless stated otherwise?
6)what does a square bracket in front of natural sign mean?
7)what does a square bracket around a mezzo forte sign mean?

really sorry for all the questions but i want to get a good mark in grade 6 any help will be much appreciated thanks.

1) two general options: grace note on the beat, or main note on the beat.  Deciding which one depends on musical context.

2, 3, 6, and 7.  Square brackets usually indicate an editorial remark or addition.  The composer did not include these in the manuscript, but the editor has suggested you play in such manner.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
