Program that recognized notes?
on: July 31, 2011, 05:56:29 PM
Hi

Does anyone know of a program that for instance writes down notes when it "hears" the melody/song? For instance if I play a song on youtube and the program automatically recognizes the notes and writes it down on a sheet.

A bit hard to explain, but does anyone understand what I mean and know of something?

I am searching for the note sheet for Spring Wind, playes by Lang Lang and am hoping that I can get the notes like that. :)

Sorry,
The only one that I know of that "writes as played" is one that you play notes on a keyboard connected to a computer...
If there's a program out there that "writes as listens" it would be very costly...

P.S. I gave up on Lang Lang after his degrading performance at the White House...

I think it is still an unsolved problem. You can get programs which pick out a few notes but nowhere near capturing a piano solo of any complexity. A human being with an absolute pitch ear and good short-term memory is still way ahead of any software currently available. I know we have one or two such people on our forum. Maybe they would do it for you for an appropriate consideration.

Thank you both for your comments.

I will try to get in contact with LangLang on some kind of site and hear if they can aid me on this matter. I see that the sheet music is requested on youtube as well.

And I agree, that LLs performance at the white house was not that great :p

As far as I can say it's very likely that this song is very popular in Taiwan, and that many people there love it, so maybe you could get hold of a person from Taiwan who knows the sources. I have searched a bit on the internet but I couldn't find anything specific either.

Is it this?

Haha I'm sort of lmao. I mean yes it's really beautiful music. At some point it gets somehow...well I don't know how to say this...bombastic, perhaps.

I actually don't think that music in itself can be political.

People can abuse it, unfortunately. Yes, sure. But that goes through our whole modern life anyway, I think. Oh well, I guess I'll shut up now :P

Who said anything about politics? I'm talking about a slap in our faces which some people seem to fail in seeing!
