Complimentary Scarlatti
on: August 04, 2011, 09:21:53 PM
Bonjour!

My teacher has asked me to choose two Scarlatti sonatas. I have set my heart on K.141, the so-called "Toccata." I have looked few of the 555 sonatas, but there is just too much choice. Could anyone suggest another sonata for me? I would like one which one go well with K. 141 please. :)

Thank you!

I was actually just thinking about starting some Scarlatti.  Have you seen this thread?

I just found it last night--lots of good comments and suggestions.  Actually, I also decided on K141 :)  It seemed like a nice complement to the more lyrical K466, which was actually my first choice.  IIRC there are a couple of posts in the above thread with some suggestions sorted by difficulty and a couple where they're sorted by style, so any of the ones on the "lyrical" list might be good choices, though I guess there's nothing wrong with doing two toccata-like ones :)

Thank you for the advice :). I have recently fallen in love with K. 277. It's wonderful. Have a listen in you want.

Thanks,
