Piano Trios
on: August 05, 2011, 10:01:24 PM
Hi Everyone,

I know there are countless posts asking for suggestions of piano trios. I am requesting quite a specific type though. It doesn't matter what style, period, mood etc, but I have requirements where difficulty is concerned. I, as pianist, can handle about anything, but the cello and violin around ABRSM grade 5 (level 5 of this website.) They are very busy and cannot practise together much. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Try the Gypsy Rondo. I'm a cellist and pianist, and I can tell you that the piano part is far more difficult than the cello and violin part, so if you can handle that, you should be fine. The cello part is very simple; however, the violin part is a little bit trickier, with some sixteenth note runs that have to be played in unison with the piano. I think this would be very doable though.
