WHAT LEVEL IS "SUITE BERGAMASQUE" by DEBUSSY??

I'm at level 7, and I'm planning to study the minuet or the prelude of this suite as my modern piece for my junior recital. Does it fit to my level?

thanks in advance! :D

Take a look at both of them.  The Menuet is actually pretty tough compared to the other ones (in my opinion), because of some of the beast right hand parts.  It's a really cool piece though.

The Prelude isn't that bad, but is probably one of those pieces (along with the Menuet) that would come a lot easier if you've played stuff by Debussy before (la Fille au Cheveux de Lin is a great piece to get used to his writing).  Some of the cross overs, textures, and pedaling can be a bit much if you are not used to it.

Either way, try them out!  No harm in doing so.

How does it count as modern though?

But I wouldn't get too bogged down in levels and grades though try it and see how it feels chances are if you pick it up relatively quickly then its fine if you struggle then pick something different

I convinced you to the menuet, didn't I? ;)

Prelude and Menuet are the easiest in my opinion. I do not play Clair de Lune very well because I am not very good at fast arpeggios. ::) And Passepied, though it is my favorite, is quite hard for me because I cannot reach a tenth so chords in left hand are uncomfortable to play.

However, I think the menuet would be good. Good luck at the recital, anyway!

Best regards, Dr
