Not necessarily especially fast. In many cases, acciaturas are better thought of a short (but still clearly articulated and melodically defined) appogiatura- not as a crushed, thrown away note. In my opinion, acciaturas are often used simply to signify that it's not the full half-length appogiatura- not to suggest that you're supposed to blast straight through them. The technical explanation of what distinguishes the two should not be taken too literally. As a general guide, the more melodic the character, the more likely it is that you want to hear the note in its own right.
