Help with what I should be playing.
on: August 11, 2011, 02:04:09 PM
Hi

I am currently working towards my Grade 3 ABRSM piano.
Daily I work on my scales, appegios etc that are required. I use the Hanon Vituoso Pianist in Sixty Exercises, (Obviously only a small section of it at the moment.) four pieces from the Grade 3 book, (3 for the exam and 1 that I just like.) slowly working through the Book 4 of Alfred's Basic Piano Library Lesson Book and also a piece from Making The Grade: Grade 3.
I do this every day pretty much.

I was just wondering what things I SHOULD be playing and learning that will really help me?
Is what I am working through at the moment ok?
What should I add, take away etc?

Please help
Oh and I am 30 yrs old if that makes a difference  :)

Hi Smallville,
The only thing age has to do with is the older you start the more bad habits you have to get over.
I can't help you in the suggestion of what to play area cause being one handed I'm pretty much un-othodoxed myself. Just keep playing what appeals to you and good luck....

Hey Jimbo

Thanks for the post. I am slowly ironing out bad habits lol
Everything I play I enjoy and I guess that is the most important thing.
