Bach Partita #1 in Bb Prelude
on: August 13, 2011, 09:14:27 AM
This is my first attempt at a recording and the sound quality needs work, obviously. It's a 12 year-old technic digital. I'll get an acoustic piano someday when my work takes me back to the US. In the meanwhile I've been bouncing around the tropics in Africa and Asia and a digital is the only practical option.
I'm 52 and took up the piano for the first time at 40. I'm kind of isolated from other adults who've started late in life and would be interested in hearing recordings of what they are working on. So if you came to the piano late, please post something here, too.

Hello.
I wish it was a better instrument, cause then you could probably to way more with everything.
Anyway, I'll do what I can!
It's a prelude. It's an invitation to the rest of the dances, so therefore I think it's a bit too slow. And I think your stacatto would work a 1000 times better if it was faster. Now they lose some of the line.
And don't think "Oh, it's Bach. I can't play louder than mf". I don't know why, but many people think like that. Do a bit more with the dynamics. When the theme is in the low bass (like in the ending), don't be afraid of showing it. And also, don't play the other voices quite so softly. It's a nice theme, but it's not that nice so that you can' cut everything else.
